The origins of the tarot are not a mystery. The modern “Rider-Waite” tarot deck was created in 1909 by Arthur Edward Waite, illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith, and published by William Rider & Son. It is based on a 16th century Italian card game, influenced by ancient Chinese playing card games, and fortune-telling using playing cards has been a longtime human tradition in which we see ourselves reflected in a mirror into which we choose to peer.
Using Jungian theories of the collective unconscious, synchronicity, and passed-down cultural memory, Michael will help you ask yourself the questions the spread of the cards want you to ask yourself so that you may understand not what your future holds, but rather the direction in which you are headed based on your current shadow-self. In doing so, you can better understand yourself, as well as how you may be able to adjust your outlook and behavior to regain control of the one aspect of life you can control — yourself.
There are no “bad” cards in tarot.
